Vic Selnes, BSc, MBA

Therapy isn’t about fixing what’s broken, it’s about reconnecting with your inner sense of direction, especially when life experiences, relationships, or systems have made it harder to hear your own voice.

I see my role as a guide: someone who listens closely, helps clarify what matters, and supports you in moving toward greater connection, meaning, and joy. I often use story, symbolism, gaming, and pop culture in my work with clients who find those tools helpful, but I also meet clients in more traditional ways when that’s what fits best.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, older adults, couples, and families. My clients come from a wide range of backgrounds and bring with them diverse stories, identities, beliefs, and needs.

I welcome those seeking support in navigating relationships, building self-understanding, or making sense of changes and challenges in their lives. I especially welcome clients who identify as LGBTQIA+ or neurodivergent, or those who’ve felt like outsiders in other systems of care.

My practice is a space where all parts of you are welcome including the ones shaped by your culture, identity, beliefs, and the communities you belong to. Everyone is worthy of care, belonging, and a life of connection—even if your experiences have made you doubt that.

I am a Doctoral Candidate in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. My dissertation explores the use of tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) to support autistic women, reflecting my deep interest in using imagination, collaboration, and play in the healing process. I am also in training to become a Registered Play Therapist.

Therapeutic Approach

My clinical orientation is integrative. I’m rooted in psychodynamic ideas about how our experiences shape our emotional life, and I draw from creative, relational, and evidence-based methods to meet clients where they are.

Therapy may involve exploring emotional patterns, unpacking self-beliefs, working through grief, or finding new ways to navigate relationships.

Some clients prefer reflective dialogue; others find insight through symbols, play, or imaginative methods.

I often integrate creative techniques like Sandtray, storytelling, or imaginative play into sessions—with clients of all ages—when those approaches resonate. Whether you’re five or fifty, creativity can open doors to insight that words alone sometimes can’t reach.

With couples and families, I help identify relational patterns and foster new ways of communicating and connecting. And with clients of all ages, I support clients through life transitions, identity exploration, and a desire for deeper self-understanding.
